THE WORKSHOP
As we stand at a new era of the built environment, the role of the architect and designer is shifting from drafter to curator as we stand at a new era in the built environment. This workshop contextualizes the history of Generative AI, examines current AI-driven workflows in professional practice, and projects the visionary future applications for architecture and design.
We’ll go beyond the hype to explore how Generative AI acts not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a powerful co-pilot that allows us to design at the speed of thought.
THE DETAILS*
You will gain a grounded perspective on the history of AI in design before diving into real-world applications. The session is built on a foundation of diverse case studies derived directly from the instructor's experience at the forefront of the industry.
We will examine experimental research from academia, drawing on work with the Norman Foster Foundation and IAAC, and contrast this with the integration of new AI-driven workflows into the everyday design process of an architectural office and R&D studio, using insights from External Reference and Vensu.
By bridging the gap between high-level research and practical office workflows, this workshop equips designers with the strategies to harness AI for rapid iteration, complex form-finding, and visual storytelling. Join us to unlock a new toolkit that transforms how we conceive, visualise, and build the future.
Why the Boring Workshops?
This aren’t pre-recorded courses. They’re live online workshops with professional instructors and creatives where you can ask questions, receive feedback, get personal guidance, and interact with peers in real time.
Recording are made available after the session so you can rewatch and follow at your own pace.
MEET Victor
Victor Engelhard Suárez is a researcher and educator from Munich, specialising in the intersection of architecture and artificial intelligence (AI). He holds a Master's Degree in Advanced Architecture from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Innsbruck (UIBK). During his Master's thesis, he explored the application of generative AI in architectural design processes. His prior experience includes roles as a computational designer and in R&D at External Reference, as well as faculty at IAAC. As R&D Specialist at the Norman Foster Institute, his work focuses on implementing new technologies, particularly generative AI, into existing workflows and exploring creative, novel applications in practice.
