THE WORKSHOP

In this live workshop, character artist Stanislav Moshkivskyi (Stasser) will guide you through the process of creating a bold stylised 3D character head in Blender.

Across three focused sessions, you will learn how to shape expressive features, sculpt stylised forms, and bring your character to life with texture, lighting, and a polished final render.

The workshop focuses on stylisation and character design, helping you move beyond basic Blender skills and develop a clear workflow for creating distinctive 3D portraits.

Participants should have basic familiarity with Blender, as the workshop focuses on character creation rather than learning the software from scratch.

THE DETAILS*

Across three live sessions, you’ll build a stylised 3D character head step by step.

  • We start by analysing references and exploring the design thinking behind stylised characters. You'll block out the character head using primitives, establish proportions and silhouette, then move into smooth forms using Blender's core sculpting tools: remesh, masking, and brushes.

  • We refine the sculpt and push the character's personality. This session covers facial feature stylisation, hair silhouette design, and introduces colour theory, working with a single shared material to make strong, deliberate colour decisions.

  • In the final session, you'll paint simple textures, build your lighting setup, and dial in camera framing and render settings. Final tweaks, export, and a full group Q&A: leaving you with a polished, portfolio-ready character portrait.

    • Blender installed (free at blender.org)

    • Familiarity with Blender: navigation and simple modelling tools

    • A computer capable of running Blender smoothly

    • Optional: a tablet or paper for sketching character ideas beforehand

This workshop assumes you already know the basic Blender interface. The focus is on stylised character creation, not learning the software from scratch.

Why the Boring Workshops?

This aren’t pre-recorded courses. They’re live online workshops with professional instructors and creatives where you can ask questions, receive feedback, get personal guidance, and interact with peers in real time.

Recording are made available after the session so you can rewatch and follow at your own pace.

MEET STANISLAV

Stanislav Moshkivskyi (Stasser) is a 3D artist and character designer originally from Ukraine, working internationally. He specializes in bold and emotionally resonant 3D portraits, often mixing realistic lighting with surreal elements to create striking, memorable characters.

Stanislav’s work has been exhibited internationally, including Apanage Days in Berlin (2025), and he collaborates regularly with agencies and animation teams on character design for global campaigns. He loves exploring how technology shapes identity and emotion, and tries to bring that depth into his characters.

His goal in this workshop is to show participants how to approach character creation with confidence, structure, and a strong artistic voice.
